Prizes, Books, Jobs, And More
July 22, 2005 11:59 pm Book Related, General, Renown MagazineThe last few days have been busy, but not super overwhelming. I didn’t get enough CDs to review for Monday, so we won’t have an update on Renown Magazine unfortunately. But the good news is I knew it far enough in advance that I have been working on some other things for the site, most of which will be coming down the pipes fairly soon.
We did launch a new giveaway on Wednesday though. It’s the Clay Aiken Giveaway, and you can check it out here. Two winners will win two CDs and a DVD each.
On Thursday was the church’s youth band practice, which I normally do sound for. The past couple of weeks have been different though, as the usual lead guitarist is away and I’m filling in for her. It’s kind of weird because I haven’t really played with other people too much before, plus the tempo for the songs get slowed down quite a bit. But oh well. The service I’m playing at is this Sunday morning… Hopefully it will go well.
When I came home Thursday evening from the practice though, there was a surprise message on the phone for me. After quite some time waiting since I originally applied – causing me to even forget about it – Future Shop actually called and did a mini-phone interview. The girl liked me (she actually said it, ha), so she set up a time for me to meet with the Sales Department Manager today at 10:30 AM. So I did that interview fine, and he said that things were good and that he would talk with the Store Manager, and that I may look around the store for a few minutes while they talked. So then shortly after I was browsing the Store Manager came over and took me into his office where I did yet another interview, and then finally it was all said and done. It was fun though, it just took about an hour total. He said that they would call me if it all goes through… We’ll see what happens. So then I bought the Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Music Video DVD and left.
Tonight we went down to the city just to browse around the mall and what not, as we haven’t done it in a while. Of course, even though I only had four dollars and a guitar pick on me, I had my debit card so I ended up buying a number of things. I bought U2’s If God Will Send His Angels and Sweetest Thing CD singles, some empty DVD cases for my bootlegs, and three books from the Christian Bookstore.
The three books I got were The Barbarian Way, New Way To Be Human, and The Art Of Being. I actually had never heard of the last one before and saw it for the first time there, but since it had all of these musicians writing articles/chapters for it, I was intrigued and decided to pick it up. I’ll let you know what I think of all of the books once I read them. I was thinking of picking up one more I hadn’t heard of, but I thought I’d wait until I look into it more first.
Well, I think that brings me you guys back up to speed for now. I would type more, but once again I am really tired and should head to bed. We’ll talk more later… cool?
Rock on.
